What inspired you to start a blog?
I've always loved writing, and I discovered a few years ago that I love photography as well. I'd read a couple blogs, though not many, and thought blogging would be a good way to share my writing and photography. I really wanted to share God through my writing and help girls grow in their relationship with Him, and that is my goal to this day.
What religion are you?
I am a Christian. I believe that God sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. Christ didn't stay dead, though - He rose on the third day! We can be saved because of what He did for us. I believe that you are saved not by works or deeds, but by repenting and trusting in Jesus. Romans 10:9 says: If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For more on my beliefs, see the "this is me" page by clicking HERE.
What is your favorite Bible verse?
There are many, but I'd have to say one of my favorites is Jeremiah 29:11-13: 11 "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." It is so incredibly comforting to know that God has a good plan for my life - even if times are tough or I'm going through obstacles. He loves me and cares about me, and has already planned out my life!
What are some of your convictions? And why?
I have many convictions, but I'll just tell you a few...
- To dress modestly. I believe that us girls should dress in a way that would not cause our brothers in Christ to stumble. I also believe that modest fashion can be stylish! (I do not feel convicted to wear a paper bag over my head ☺)
- I feel convicted to stay pure and save my first kiss for marriage. This is my own choice. I believe that purity is very important, and not only physical purity, but also emotional and spiritual purity.
- I feel convicted to listen to music that does not dishonor God but lifts Him up. I don't want to listen to any music with cuss words in it or put-down, broken heart lyrics. Not all the songs I like are Christian (although most are), and some songs are fun and clean, but I feel like it isn't okay to listen to bad songs...they have more of an effect than we realize!
What would you say to some-one (even at Walmart!) if you knew that person was going to die, and that you were going to be the last person he/she saw.
Oh, wow! Well...I would most definitely tell them about God and how He created them and loves them. I'd tell them about the Gospel and how they can be saved.
When did writing become real in your life?
I've always loved to write, but when I was younger I didn't think I was going to be a writer (in fact, I wanted to be an artist and ballerina ☺). I'd say writing became "real" to me when I was around eleven years old. That was when I started to blog, and discovered that I really love writing. It became even more real when I published my first and second books and finished NaNoWriMo in 2010. I knew that I really loved writing and want to pursue writing my whole life.
