A Couple Links You've Gotta Check Out

Some of you may remember the lovely Sarah who was featured in one of the "Girlz Like You Interviews." She is one of my closest friends, and she loves God and desires to serve Him. She encourages me, listens to me, and is a wonderful example for me. I am blessed to have her as a friend, and I know God planned for us to be friends even before He created us!

I want to let you all know about Sarah's new blog, Striving to be After God's Heart. On her blog, she says her blog will be a place where she shares "discoveries and findings of my life striving to be after God's heart." I encourage you to check out her blog.

I also encourage you to visit the website of this lovely lady, Christa Sterken. Her daughters are two of my closest friends, and she is also a dear friend. I love her so much! She is so encouraging to me and a wonderful godly example for me. On her website, she posts crafts, tips, and heartfelt encouragement. She is authentic, incredibly gifted, encouraging, and open, and I strongly encourage you to take a look at her site.

Little Happy/Awkward Things

-Getting the giggles when our choir performed "Hidden Away" by Josh Groban because 1) the pianist's music falls down in the middle of the song so our director stops the song and 2) after that we keep forgetting the words/singing the wrong words. It was pretty funny.

-Goofing around with choir friends about how our choir robes make us feel like birds, so we can only communicate in bird squawks and flapping our arms up and down.

-Making someone you don't know very well laugh until they cry because you and your friend are making llamas with your hands and reciting, "Happy llama, sad llama, totally rad llama..."

-Looking at old videos and pictures and doing constant checks around you to see if anyone sees you smiling at the computer screen like a goofball.

-Taking a picture of yourself making the weirdest expression known to man and looking at the picture and thinking, "I didn't know I could make that weird of a face. That is extremely scary." (and in case you're wondering...NO, that picture will not be posted here. It has been discarded because I found it so awkward and frightening! :)

-Playing Webkinz and cheering and throwing your hands up in the air when you win a prize on the Wheel of Wow and your grandpa walks in the room...(this was a while ago, mind you :))

What are some little happy/awkward things that have happened in your life lately (or in the past)?

God bless you, girls. Have an amazing weekend :).

Confessions {numéro deux}

{1} I don't like tea. (please don't ban me from the blogging community ;)) Snapple is fine, but I don't care at all for regular tea. I was at a restaurant with my family the other day and thought, "I should try tea again to see if I like it." But, nope...

{2} My best friend and I are planning on trying these the next time I go to visit her:

It's going to be amazing.

{3} I (well, technically my mom) got Avengers Valentines to give to some of my friends (in fact, just a minute ago I got distracted by the extra sticker sheet that came along with them)...

{4} I have over 70 photos on display on my desk as of right now.

{5} I'm writing a Hunger Games parody of Alicia Keys' song "Girl on Fire." It had to be done.

(not sure where I got this picture, but it's pretty funny, huh? I think it's from a friend or blogger's pinterest)
{6} I have never seen an episode of Doctor Who in my life, but some of my friends are big fans (*ahem*)...I don't know. Should I watch it, peeps? Sounds kind of confusing :).

{7} I got the song "What Makes You Beautiful." And in case you're wondering, NO, I am NOT a One Direction fan or fangirl (there is a difference). Haha! I just like the song. My friends who consider themselves "Directioners" claim that I love 1D but don't know it yet...haha yeah, nope...Just because I like one song does NOT mean I'm gonna squeal over them and but all their merch and declare myself the future Mrs. Styles. Nah, I'd rather marry a Christian Josh Hutcherson ;).

(When writing this confession, this quote came to mind...) "You're morphing into one of them!" Lilly, The Princess Diaries

{8} I'm taking a SPANISH CLASS! I'm pretty excited :). Hola! Como estas? Cual es tu nombre? Me nombre es Talia.

{9} My dad talked me into playing against him in a boxing video game, and now I actually somewhat like it. What is wrong with me?! I typically don't like boxing video games (not that there's anything wrong with liking them). Haha!

{10} I had leftover cold chicken noodle soup (the way I like it) for breakfast AND lunch (oh, yeah :)).

And now, on a serious note, let me leave you with this awesome quote I saw on facebook...so true and convicting!

"To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." - C.S. Lewis

Have a great day, girls :). God bless you.

When You're Valentine-less on Valentine's Day

(cheesy LOTR/Once Upon a Time valentine pics :)) all from Facebook, not my pictures)

So, it's Valentine's Day.

If you have a Facebook, you've probably been reading varied love-related posts all day that fall into one of these three categories:

1) I'm in love, I'm in love, and I don't care who knows it! (-Buddy the Elf)
2) I am content without a Valentine
3) #I #will #be #forever #alone (not to pick on anyone who likes using lots of hashtags ;) they're quite fun, actually)

Valentine's Day for some is a wonderful day they spend with (or thinking about/talking to) their "other half," while for others it is a harsh reminder that they are other-half-less. Whether you're basking in the love of a significant other, hanging out with friends, or chilling with your family (like me :)), I want to tell you an important truth:

It is OKAY to be Valentine-less.

I have never had a Valentine or a "secret admirer" or received chocolate/flowers/etc. from a boy on Valentine's Day. And you know what? I'm okay with that! Sure, it feels nice if someone likes you. It's nice to get attention. But your self-worth shouldn't depend on whether you have a Valentine or not. Because, truly, not having a boyfriend does not in any way lower your worth. God defines your worth, not a boy. Sure, sometimes it may seem like everyone is in a relationship or has a boy vying for their attention and affection. But that does not mean that all those relationships are going to last or eternally satisfy. Now, hold the phone - I am not saying that all relationships are only temporary. No! I'm just trying to say that your boyfriend status doesn't define you, and if you don't have a boyfriend, IT'S OKAY. God has an amazing plan for your love life, and it will be so much more rewarding to wait on Him to bring you together with the person you are supposed to marry (if His plan for you includes marriage). I know that, for me, choosing not to have a boyfriend at my age is helping me protect my heart for my future husband. I'm not walking around all down cuz I don't have a boyfriend. No, I'm choosing to celebrate Valentine's Day instead by loving my family, friends, and God.

I'd like to share with you what I posted on Facebook earlier...

You know, I'm really quite content to be a "single pringle," as they call them :), today. I'm just as content (if not more) getting a gift from my parents instead of from a guy, because I know that God has a guy picked out for me that He will bring in His own timing. And God's timing is definitely 100 zillion percent better than mine :). I'm content to know that He will work things out in HIS timing. Besides, I'm really young, and I think having a boyfriend at my age would possibly distract me from God. So, today, I am content to celebrate Valentine's Day by loving my friends and family. I am very content to have Jesus as my Valentine. :D

Don't be ashamed of being a "single pringle"! Just bask in the thought that God has an AMAZING plan for your love life that is a zillion times better than your plan for yourself...it just hasn't fully unfolded yet :).

1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails...

Eleven Things Tag

I don't usually do tags, but this one looked like fun :).

Here are the rules:

1) You must answer the eleven questions the tagger has given you and make eleven questions for the people you are going to tag.
2) Next, tag eleven more bloggers.
3) Tell the people you have tagged that you tagged them.
4) No tagging back!
Thanks, Kara and Heidi Anne for tagging me!
Questions from Kara:
1. Do you prefer the country or the city? Mm...somewhere in between :).
2. Fave blog? Oh, wow! Such a hard question! I like so many!
3. What is one quote this week that has inspired you most? A Bible verse I read in a book last night, actually: The beginning of Isaiah 26:9: "With my soul I have desired You in the night..."
4. Makeup or nail polish? I like both! But makeup.
5. Do you have a big family or small? Depends what you consider big or small! Maybe somewhere in the middle...
7. What is one unique thing about you? Well, this is random, but I was in the play "Mulan, Jr." a couple years ago, and I played Mulan's ancestor Zhang. I got to wear facial hair!
8. How many states have you been to? Fifteen that I can think of. I've been to California, Nebraska, Washington, Texas (the airport), Louisiana, Hawaii, Indiana, Colorado (the airport), Maryland, Oregon, New York, Virginia, Kentucky, New Jersey, and Delaware.

8. What is your favorite Bible verse? Jeremiah 29:11-13 and 2 Corinthians 4:8-9
9. What Bible verse was the one that got your attention about getting saved? I was pretty young when I got saved, so I don't think it was just one Bible verse that "got my attention." I do remember hearing and understanding John 3:16, though.
10. What is your favorite hymn? "Amazing Grace."
11. If you have ever seen a musical, what would be your favorite? LES MISERABLES, HANDS DOWN! Okay, I've never seen the actual musical, but I've seen the movie. Does that count? :) Second in line would have to be "Wicked."
Here are my questions:
1. What is your favorite book?
2. What is your favorite season?
3. What do you want to be when you grow up?
4. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?
5. If you could be a character from a book or movie for one day, what character would it be?
6. Do you prefer older movies and TV shows or newer movies and TV shows?
