What Can WE Do?

Check out this verse:

Proverbs 24:12
12 Don’t excuse yourself by saying, “Look, we didn’t know.”
For God understands all hearts, and he sees you.
He who guards your soul knows you knew.
He will repay all people as their actions deserve.

I read this verse in a Holt International magazine, and it really convicted me. Almost a year has passed since the huge earthquake in Haiti (and there was one in Chili too, wasn't there?), and the news reports on it and all that are dwindling, aren't they? Sometimes we forget our brothers and sisters in Haiti, and also those who don't know Jesus who are yearning for help, who desperately need it. You may be thinking: But what can I do? I'm here, and they're there. There isn't a thing I can do for them!
But there IS! Here is a list of practical ideas for helping those in Haiti and around the globe:

~Pray for them(God loves talking to you - you'd be surprised how amazing prayer is!)
~ Write a letter to a Christian inprisoned for their faith! See this web site: www.prisoneralert.com, then scroll down to the prisoners, click on one, and follow the onscreen directions for writing a letter. Be sure to ask your parents first.
~ Visit the web site for Voice of the Martyrs, www.persecution.com. You can order a free magazine with stories of those around the globe being persecuted for their faith, and you can also buy apparel and other stuff that gives some of the money to those in need.
~ Donate money to Show Hope, www.showhope.org, or to another organization.
~ Talk to your parents about sponsoring a child through Compassion or World Vision. Me and my parents split the price for a child. Maybe you could do that, too.
~ Do Operation Christmas Child. We just went shopping for ours. It's really awesome! Last year I even got a letter back from the girl who had received my shoebox filled with gifts! It was pretty cool!
~ Make a scrapbook with stories and pictures (you can find these in magazines like Holt International , Compassion and Show Hope).
~ Visit the Do Something web site for ideas on charitable, practical things you can do to help others.
~ Buy jewelry and other stuff from Apparent Project. These awesome items are made my people in Africa out of PAPER (the jewelry), and the profits go directly to that family!

If you use one of these ideas, or you have any more, please comment and share it with us!

God bless you!
