Gifted Girl

I saw this video on another blog and thought it was very interesting. God has really gifted this girl, Rhema Marvanne (who is seven!). This is a great reminder that everyone has gifts - no matter how young, old, big, small... God has gifted everyone!

Thankful for THAT?!

HI! How are all of you girls doing today? Sorry I haven't posted in a while! Today I wanted to wrap up our thankful study by talking about the 'Oh, Brother' side of being thankful! Know what I mean? Let me explain...

We all know there are some things we aren't exactly gung-ho about being thankful for (like sin, mean kids at school, or your annoying little brother or older bossy sis). But you know what? We can be thankful for those things. Think about it. Without sin in the world, we wouldn't have a choice of whether we wanted Jesus or not. We'd be like robots, obeying God's every command and loving Him when He said so. Sound fun to you? No, right? I'm not saying we should be thankful that our little sib hits us, the kids we babysit are disobedient, or someone curses on a TV show. I'm saying that we should be thankful that God has given us a choice of salvation. It's awesome He cares so much about us, huh?

When you think about, there are lots to be thankful for that you didn't think of before (stuff that makes you want to groan, plug your ears, cover your eyes, or whatever). As I wrap up today's thankful study, you can post about something you're thankful for that might not always bring a smile to your face. To start, I'll say that I'm thankful for my siblings (although they do annoy me sometimes ☺), God's gift of letting us choose salvation, and discipline (which can totally help us if it's meant for us to learn a VERY important lesson).

Check out these awesome Bible verses (NKJV):

Psalm 92:1 333

It is good to give thanks to the Lord, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High.

Psalm 105:1 333

Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples!

Psalm 107:1 333

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever!

PUPPY!!! *Update*

This is very off-topic, and sorry about that ☺, but I am just really ecstatic because... our family got a puppy!!! He was for sale outside Walmart with two other puppies. He's adorable! His name is Jack and he's an Australian Shepherd mutt. I'm so glad we got him! And thanks so much Mom, Dad, and God!!! :)

Here's a pic of him!!! Oh, and by the way...will be back posting VERY soon! Maybe we should talk about procrastination (putting things off) ☺... I just want you 2 know that you guys R SOOO important to me!!!

p.s. welcome back, Lexi!

Boy, am I loving your comments, girlios! Thanks so much for posting them!

Bookworm said that she actually did one of her summer challenges without even knowing it! She did a drama lead role in front of an audience of 600 peeps. Awesome, Bookworm! What an accomplishment!

I also want to say welcome to Mary!!! So glad to have you here :).

Will be posting again soon!!!

Summer Challenge Update

Hey, girlios! I wanted to ask you... Are any of you doing the summer challenge? It's kind of funny, I completed one of the challenges without even thinking about it. That can just happen, with God leading the way ☺ ♥. With Him, ANYTHING can happen! ☻

The summer challenge I completed was talking with someone about Jesus. It was great! And I feel a little bad counting it as my summer challenge, because it was just, like, well... I was not even thinking about the challenge when I did it. I liked talking to that person. It was really fabulous! Sometimes having challenges that glorify God can help us change our hearts, huh?

I also wanted to inform you guys that I'll be talking about worship and thankfulness again - soon! Once we finish those studies I'll try to begin talking about one thing at a time (it's a lot to take in, what with all the posts about thankfulness, worship, and summer! LOL).

I also want to say Happy Birthday to my dad and brother! Their birthday is tomorrow so...

Oh, and one more thing...

Sono Sato Harris

On July 4th at 8:00 pm, the mother of the Harris family (Alex and Brett Harris are the authors of Do Hard Things and Start Here and their older brother Joshua is the author of I Kissed Dating Goodbye) went to be with Jesus in heaven. See the inspiring blog post here on the

Happy Fourth of July!

Happy Independence Day, everyone (yesterday)!

As to what we've been doing...

On July 3rd we went to some friends' pond for a potluck/BBQ. I saw a recipe in an issue of Clubhouse Magazine (great magazine for girls and boys!), and so we decided to try it. This is what it looked like ... this was actually the one for July 4th (we made two). The other had more kabobs...

Last night was Independence Day, 2010, and we had a barbecue with our family and some relatives. It was great! Then we did little fireworks and sparklers (and the ones that make the pop! sound when you throw them on the ground) and then we got all bundled up and went to see the fireworks. They were really pretty! Plus our cousins had lots of fun taking pictures :). My cousin Ella took this one...

The fireworks were really pretty!

I had a pretty good 4th of July and I hope you did too.
On to thankfulness...
Bookworm says she is thankful for the awesome church camp she got to go to recently. That's great, Bookworm!
For now, keep posting your thankfulness answers (see below post). I have to get going. God loves you so much!!!

Paper Lanterns, Moms, and Thankfulness

Hey, everyone! Well, I think I should probably add another item to my 'thankful list'. An item and a person, actually. My mom and electricity. Let me explain...

Last night all of our electricity went out. I awoke to darkness in my room (and quietness) except for dim light out the window. In my room my dad had helped me put up three battery-powered, purple paper lanterns. I turned one on, got out of bed, and looked at the clock. It wasn't on. Neither was my nightlight or fan. Before I got out of bed I thought I may have forgotten to turn the nightlight and fan on. But I quickly changed my mind. I went and informed my mom, and she came in and turned on a different lantern and said I could go back to bed.
I went back to bed and then awoke a (I THINK) few hours later. It was dark. The paper lantern had run out of battery! My little sister was crying. I comforted her and turned on the lantern closest to me. I also awoke my mom and told her my sis was awake. After we finally got to bed, we awoke again later (my sister and I). The lantern was out of battery. I didn't have the third purple paper lantern since my brother had used it. I turned on my iPod and used the little light from that. My mom came in (again!) and it was about 3:15 am (in the MORNING)! She had also been helping my brother at night, and he was finally asleep in her room. She went and got more batteries for one of the lanterns lantern so it would last a little longer. I got a flashlight in case that lantern went off. Not long later, my mom discovered that the power was back on! She turned on my fan and nightlight and we went back to bed. Although I was very hot and somewhat tired, I was reminded to be thankful! Thanks SO much, Mom, for everything you do. I really appreciate it!!! I've also learned to be thankful for electricity. I know not everyone has it, and I need to be thankful for it. I'm also thankful we have those paper lanterns! Thank you for buying them, Mom! And thanks for helping us through the night, God!

So yeah, that was a great reminder to be thankful. There are so many other things we don't think to be thankful for - like food and water, clothes, TV, computer, and the phone, a house, and all that. Let's try to be thankful today and every day! Sound good?

Here is the feedback from the previous post, Thankful List... (thanks for commenting, girls!) :)

Bookworm said she is thankful for her parents and grandparents, who are always there for her.

Lexi said she's thankful for her house, food, and clothes (because, sadly, not a lot of people in the world have those benefits). She's also thankful for her mom, who helps her a lot when things aren't going great for her.

Those are both awesome answers! God really does bless us, huh? For the next few days, let's think really hard about something small we're thankful for. If you want, you can post that on your comment. If you don't want to do that, you can post why you think being thankful is important. Or you can post both! Hope you have a great God-summer!!!

Don't forget to do the summer challenge! And there will be more to come on worship and thankfulness :)! Oh, and sorry if I'm copying what Nancy Rue says on her tween blog. I think thankfulness is a good topic (I'm not trying to copy her)! I highly recommend that blog. I think it's great!

God bless you!
